The Horehound got it's name from to Old English words: "hoar"  means 

white or light-colored, like the term 'hoarfrost' which is a grayish white crystal that comes from icy water vapor. And hune which is classified  as an unknown herb.

Scientific Names: 

The White horehound's scientific name is Marrubium Vulgare.  It is a part of a family called (Lamiaceae)
